In addition to a 60-bed year-round emergency shelter, there is also a year-round transitional housing program. Meals, showers, lockers, medical referrals, living skills classes, and case management. Federal poverty guidelines apply and clients must be 18 years or older. Candidates for the transitional program must be sober and drug-free for a minimum of 30 days and have a willingness to continue treatment. HRC referral required.

Salvation Army Harbor Light Center

Provides meals, shelter, medical referrals, and referrals to Vocational Rehabilitation and the Social Security Administration. Also provides substance abuse treatment for men (except for alcohol) and referrals to clinics and ConnectCare for emergency medical needs. Overnight stays or arrangements can be made for up to 90 day stays.

Veterans Affairs, Homeless Veteran

Long-Term Residential. Clients age 21 and older are eligible for highly subsidized rent and meals in separate buildings and programs for men and women. Provides ongoing support and treatment. Oxford House

Oxford House is a concept in recovery from drug and alcohol addiction. Oxford House is structured as a democratically run, self-supporting and drug free home. This publicly supported, non-profit 501(c)3 corporation is the umbrella organization which provides the network connecting all Oxford Houses.
There are about 12 Oxford Houses for men and 3 for women in the St. Louis area. Addresses are not published. Contact Jackie Lockatt at 314/877-0386 for information on openings. Rent is $65 -$80 per week. Interview required.

Humanitri was formed in 2006 after the Good Samaritan Service Center for the Homeless, Lutheran Ministries Association, and Friend of Moms agencies came together. The organization recently received funding to expand the number of transitional housing units they operate. They also offer inmate and prisoner family services, including transportation to state correctional facilities, in addition to other social service programs.

Clients must be female victims of domestic violence, 18 years old and up. The Hall does not admit males older than 13 years of age. Up to four months.
